This car was one of the toughest cars to build. We had no information or pictures of what the car would have even looked like and to make it worse there was not one nut or bolt assembled on the car. We got it around 1992 and slowly started sorting out pieces and trying to figure out what the heck it was. Eventually we did as you can see, but it was a very long process we worked on it until about 1995 when it got pushed to the side for a while. We started back on it hot heavy around 1997 and by 1999 it was road worthy.
This car was built by Possum Sr. and Possumette. She designed the car including 16" wheels, top design, interior and exterior colors and striping design which includes, chromalusion flames and the famous Van Halen stripe along the side. Possumette (AKA Malori) did much of the prep work and assisted in every aspect of the build. The color is Darango Copper Pearl Metallic with a black hartz cloth top.
This car is a true convertible, but the top bows were missing from the car. The Possum Killer Garage formed a lightweight wood frame with an aluminum skin that is completely removable for cruising weather. The interior other than the stitching of the seats was done in house by Sr. and Possumette. Doors are opened inside and out via electric selenoids. This car is very streetable and although the wheelbase is short the ride is very good. The Fiat is powered by a 4 cylinder chevy motor and auto trans. The interior cloth is an oatmeal tweed with sculptured flames inset in the door panels, headliner and rear package tray. The completed car really is unique and fun to drive. People have a hard time figuring out what it is and many think it is an old or customized volkswagon. All we know is it's COOOOOOOOOL!!!!!!!
This car looks good from any angle with the top on or off. What a neat thing to not only have a son that appreciates hot rods, but a daughter too. Life is good!!!
