Our trip to Darryl Starbirds custom car hall of fame in Afton Oklahoma
This was the first stop on the way which was a neat old store with some cool stuff, but nothing was for sale. what is a road trip without junk food.
This is your first sight when you enter the parking lot, monster trucks built by Starbirds son, along with a future project this aluminum bodied futuristic custom.
Walking in the museum is like a trip back in time. These were the cars that turned me on as a kid and inspired me as a young motorhead. Now my son was having the priviledge of enjoying them with me. When you enter the bubble tops are incredible and that they have been preserved is great. We think everyone who loves customs should take a trip to this place it is fantastic.
This truck known as the " ECLIPSE " was a major influence on me as a young kid. I thought it was the coolest thing I had ever seen at a Carl Casper auto show in the late 60's early 70's
Anybody remember 60's show rods, they were great, not practical, but great. What about those wild 70's paint jobs, we here there making a comeback, oh yea to cool to stand.
This was one of the greatest trips ever for a motorhead there were Ed Roth, Gene Winfield, Bill Hines, and many more famous car builders represented with cars on display and the inventory changes with new cars in and out regularly. Darryl also keeps new cars under construction and allows you in his shop to see them. This was absolutely awsome
